| Information | Haapavesi Folk Music Festival is a special event in Finnish summer held every year in the end of June, just after our midsummer. The festival consists of five days folk music Course and the actual folk music Festival four to five days. The Festival has founded in 1989 and the hart of the festival, Folk Course, few years before 1988. The program of the festival consists of high quality folk music acts all over the world. Most of the artists represent the Finnish folk music scene, but important part of the programme is international artists every year. Music from Ireland and North America are in the focus yearly and besides always something from the different parts of the world. In addition, children’s music is included. The programme consists of workshops, seminars and concerts in different stages, some of them acoustic. Teachers to the Folk course come from Finland and abroad as well. The course gives the participants the opportunity to really focus to learn the different music cultures, but also to have the best guidance in specific instruments. The course is for all age folk music lovers and groups. Children have the own teachers in the program. The festival is organised by the Haapavesi Folk association with small personnel and big important group of volunteer workers.
